The record of a decade of conversations with the painter David Hockney, this book reveals the fruits of his lifelong meditations on the problems and paradoxes of representing a three dimensional world on a flat surface, told with a characteristic passion and humour. It explores, in Hockney’s own words, how drawing makes one ‘see things clearer, and clearer and clearer still’.
I loved your book on Hockney a real favorite of mine. I also wrote about it on my blog – please look for the blog link on my web or directly via http://www.artphotographypaintings.blogspot.com. Thanks for sharing these wonderful interviews with us. Roger
Dear Martin,
I’m painting since 22 years and still learn every day. I bought your book about DH a few days ago and read it with a lot of enthousiasm. It’s very usefull for those who still want to learn.
You can look in a very professional kitchen which learns you a lot. This is very important work for this and next generation. Anyway I have a solution for a problem in one of my paintings because of this book.
Thank you for this great opportunity.
Greetings, Caroline
Great book, Thank you very much. I have learned a lot about art
hockney has always been a favourite of mine the man never stops inventing. The book is facinating.
I can’t draw for toffee but took three months to read this book, very slowly… I’m a huge fan of David Hockney and think this book should be prescribed reading for anyone who wants to improve their knowledge of the history of art. Loved the format Thank you and look forward to more.
Sad to say was in London last year and never managed to see an original of DH’s work, of any description. Intend to go to the museum in Bridlington next time.
